David Gilmour - Yes, I Have Ghosts
During a late-night haze, a friend sent me a link to a new song (from last July) by rock legend David Gilmour, the guitarist for Pink Floyd, joining the ranks of a myriad of musicians, old and new, who have put out drastically stripped down performances this year due to the ongoing pandemic. This particular song, "Yes, I Have Ghosts," is Gilmour's first in five years, and is a duet between Gilmour and his daughter Romany made as part of a promotion for the audiobook for A Theatre for Dreamers, a Sunday Times bestseller by Gilmour's wife Polly Samson. The arrangement simply consists of an acoustic guitar, piano, violin, and both Gilmours' voices -- seemingly a standard nowadays. Despite the cliche, it's still easy to imagine it appearing on a late-stage Pink Floyd record -- perhaps The Final Cut or The Division Bell -- maybe even with Roger Waters singing (as if that will ever happen nowadays).
